If you are looking up rogue An Average Campaign builds, here is the short answer: Rogue is the DEX and LCK class that starts with a Simple Dagger, stacks Bleed and crit buffs, and does its damage in short bursts. It branches into Assassin (Strange Man, Forest), Drifter (Lone Drifter, Dungeon) and Shade (Portal in the Dungeon, which needs a Summoning Star). Put most points into DEX, then LCK.

This page is based on the official Rogue Trello card and subclass cards, the Roblox game page and player-documented notes for Alpha v0.5.1, all checked on October 20, 2026. The game is in Alpha and values change often. Where the Trello board (last edited April 2026) disagrees with newer patch notes, we go with the newer value and say so.

01

Rogue base kit: abilities and stats

You start with the Simple Dagger (3 DEX) and four abilities:

AbilityLevelEnergy / CooldownEffect
Strike10 / 06 Physical, the shared basic attack
Stab11 / 48 Physical, 2 Bleed
Prep Time31 / 6Self buff: Applied Toxins 4, Prepared 3, Fleetfooted 3
Poke Up52 / 34 Physical three times, 1 Bleed per hit

Prep Time is the core of the kit: Prepared adds a flat 25% crit chance, Fleetfooted adds 5% dodge chance, and Applied Toxins makes your attacks apply Backalley Toxin plus the toxin of any equipped vial. The Trello card still lists an 8-turn cooldown; current player notes list 6.

Community-documented formulas give each DEX point 0.15% crit chance, 0.20% crit damage and some dodge chance. Each LCK point gives 0.225% crit chance, 0.3% crit damage and 0.2% Lucky Drop. Patch 0.5.1 cut LCK's crit scaling; see the stats page.

02

Rogue skill tree

Seven nodes sit in three branches, and a node needs rank 3 of 5 before its neighbors open. Skill points come from Prestige (your permanent class level), three per level, and a reset refunds them.

BranchNodePer point
LeftNimble+0.5% dodge chance
LeftTrained Killer+1% crit chance
MiddleJagged Edge4% chance per damage instance to apply Bleed
MiddleHP+2 Max HP
MiddleStat Points+1 starting stat point
RightShadowy Figure3% less enemy aggro toward you
RightThievery+5% gold income

03

Rogue subclasses: how to unlock each

Community encounter tables show that a Rogue in the party raises the weight of Strange Man and Lone Drifter from 2 to 9, so both appear much more often.

SubclassHow to unlockPlaystyleKey abilities
AssassinForest, Strange Man: approach and pick "Become one of the blades"Single-target Bleed and DoT burstBackstab, Knife Throw, Vicious Attack
DrifterDungeon, Lone Drifter: approach and pick "Learn techniques from the west"Crit-focused gunslinger, no DoTsLoad Up, Lay Them Low, High Noon, Scatter Shot
ShadeDungeon, Portal in the Dungeon: use a Summoning Star, resist the voices, beat the Herald of The VoidVoid darts that build Punctured, then detonateVoid Darts, Detonation, Mobius Edge, Abyssal Mark

04

Assassin: Strange Man and kit

The official Assassin card puts the unlock in the Strange Man Forest event. You can also decline but study him (+3% crit chance for the run), or kill him for a Shadowed Soul, which crafts a Shadow Dagger, Dark Hood or Black Leather Chestpiece. Becoming an Assassin unlocks the Weak Points Boon (+10% flat crit damage).

  • Backstab (Lv 1): 12 Physical, unblockable, Bleed 3, Vulnerable 2, Gaping Wound 2.
  • Knife Throw (Lv 4): 5 Physical to all enemies, Bleed 2, Gaping Wound 2, 10% Precision (hits harder as fewer enemies remain).
  • Vicious Attack (Lv 6): 8 Physical twice, undodgeable, 4-turn cooldown, 20% more damage per unique DoT on the target.

Gaping Wound (status effects deal 1.25x damage) was added to all three in v0.5.1; the Trello card still shows Backstab with 2 Bleed and Vicious Attack on a 6-turn cooldown. Bleed and Gaping Wound both count as DoTs, so one Backstab already makes Vicious Attack hit for 1.4x.

05

Drifter: Lone Drifter and the Drifter's Hat

The official Drifter card puts the unlock in the Lone Drifter Dungeon event. Drifter replaces your dagger with Drifter's Revolver (8 DEX, 3 LCK) and unlocks the Keen Eye Boon (+5% flat crit chance).

To get the Drifter's Hat, approach with weapons drawn instead and kill The Drifter. His Solitary Soul is the whole recipe on the Drifter's Hat card: 12 DEX and 7% crit damage on Trello, plus 6 CHA in current notes. The soul can make Cowboy Boots (12 LCK, 2% dodge) instead, and one encounter can't give you both the subclass and the hat.

  • Fire (Lv 1): 6.5 Physical, free. Pocket Sand (Lv 1): 8 Physical, Blinded 3 (15% miss chance).
  • Load Up (Lv 3): Keen (+30% crit chance), Loaded (+15% crit damage), Lightfooted (+10% dodge).
  • Lay Them Low (Lv 4): 5.5 Physical three times, +15% crit damage.
  • High Noon (Lv 6): 0 energy. Puts Bounty on all enemies, so attacks on them from any ally gain 25% crit chance, and kills drop bonus gold.
  • Scatter Shot (Lv 8): 4.5 Physical twice to all enemies, 10% Precision.

The Trello card had High Noon at 1 energy and Bleed on Scatter Shot; current notes list neither. Drifter has no Prep Time, so toxin vials lose their Rogue bonus.

06

Shade: Portal in the Dungeon guide

Shade arrived in v0.4.4 (June 2026), after the Trello board's last edit, so this section uses player notes and RoadToKing's video SHADE SUBCLASS GUIDE + UPDATE.

  1. Be base Rogue, with a Summoning Star in anyone's inventory or stash. You can buy one at The Unblinking Eyes shop in the Dungeon or craft it from Nedyak's Changeling Soul.
  2. Find Portal in the Dungeon, use the Star and choose "Resist the voices".
  3. Beat the Void Being and Voidling fight, then defeat the Herald of The Void (about 200 HP solo).
  4. Take the crystal and accept Shade. The first time you do this, you unlock the Swift Striker Boon.

Picking "Try to run" before the first fight lets you grab the crystal early as Lesser Shade (same kit, 0.85x damage). The full subclass still needs the Herald dead.

Shade gains a Void Reserve each turn (up to 10). Void Darts throws one dart per stack at random enemies, adding Backalley Toxin and Punctured (cap 12). Detonation then hits every enemy for 3 extra base damage per Punctured stack and can't be dodged, blocked or missed. Abyssal Mark focuses the darts on one target.

Best Rogue build and boons (editorial)

These picks are editorial, as of Alpha v0.5.1 (October 2026). You have 5 Boon slots, and Boons are bought with Cealts once their achievement is unlocked.

  • Stats: DEX first, LCK second. Shade also wants INT, because Void Darts and Detonation scale more with INT than with DEX.
  • Skill tree: Trained Killer, HP and Stat Points suit every subclass; Assassin adds Jagged Edge.
  • Subclass: Drifter is the easiest to build, since Load Up covers its own crit and High Noon helps the party. Assassin is best against bosses, where it can stack DoTs on one target. Shade is best against groups but has the hardest unlock.
  • Best boons for Drifter: Keen Eye (1 slot), Weak Points (1), Underhanded Tactics (1, pairs with Pocket Sand's Blinded) and Versatile (2, rewards switching between single-target and AoE). Versatile comes from winning a Drifter-only DEX duel against Two Gun Thomas (at least 67 DEX).
  • Assassin: Weak Points, Keen Eye and the Jagged Edge Boon (crits on bleeding targets apply Hemorrhage).

See all Boons and the tier list.

Solo Rogue tips

  • Since v0.5.1.2, solo enemies have lower dodge and block chance. Each extra player adds 35% HP to mobs and 70% to bosses, so The Drifter (80 HP solo) and the Herald are smallest when you play alone.
  • Skip Shadowy Figure when solo, since all the aggro lands on you anyway.
  • Each death adds a stack of Exhaustion (15% less Max HP and 20% less damage), so don't gamble a weak run on The Drifter just for the hat.

To compare Rogue with the other base classes, see the classes page.
