An Average Campaign (AAC) is a turn-based Roblox roguelike: you gear up in a tavern lobby, then fight through the Forest and the Dungeon in one run that you will often lose. This An Average Campaign beginner guide covers how a run flows, which NPCs to visit, turns and skill checks, solo versus group play, dying and rejoining, and host commands like /gs 2 for double speed.

It is based on the official Roblox game page, the developers' Trello board and player-documented notes for Alpha v0.5.1, checked on October 20, 2026. The game is in Alpha and values change often; the Trello was last edited in April 2026, so some of its numbers are older.

01

How a run works

A run starts in the Forest. After each round of enemies you choose one of three Encounters: trainers, shops, skill checks, events, mini-bosses or a sub-area entrance. Instead, you can Scavenge (three searches for materials) or take a Short Rest if you have uses left. In a party, Encounters are chosen by vote.

AreaTypeStagesLast stage
ForestMain, where runs start8Giant
Dwarven MinesOptional, via the Elven Camp encounter7Piloted Hearth Monarch
DungeonMain, after the Forest or the Mines12Bone Drake
SewerOptional, via the Ominous Manhole encounter5Boss fight

Each level grants 3 stat points and more Max HP (the Trello says 3 HP per level; v0.5.x player notes list 2). Classes unlock abilities at set levels, such as the Warrior's Taunt at level 3. See stats and bosses for more.

02

The tavern lobby: NPCs to talk to first

The official Trello recommends talking to every NPC before you start. The key ones:

  • Aura Farmer, by the door near spawn: host a party lobby, join one, or queue solo. Roblox lists private servers as disabled for this game.
  • Magic Mirror: change your look, pick one of the seven classes and spend skill tree points.
  • Tavern Master, behind the bar: buy and equip Boons with Cealts. You have 5 slots, each Boon takes 1 to 5, and most need an achievement first.
  • Battle Master, under the "Advice" sign: explains combat, encounters, classes, stats and inventory.
  • The Veteran: shows your achievements and hints at the rest.
  • Illinivich sells outfits; the Noble upstairs sells Cealts for Robux.

Human is the default race. Other races unlock permanently and swap freely in the lobby.

03

Combat: turns, Initiative and Energy

At the start of each fight everyone rolls Initiative to set turn order; summons always act last. Your Initiative range rises by 1 for every 3 levels and every 20 DEX.

Abilities cost Energy and have turn cooldowns; the Trello lists the Warrior's Cross Slash at 2 Energy and 4 turns. Energy Gain, raised by INT, FTH and CHA, is the chance of extra Energy at the start of your turn. Enemies pick targets by Aggro, which CHA lowers. Block and dodge roll for every hit, and v0.5.1.2 notes say guarding adds 30% Block damage reduction to a 20% base.

Skill checks

Some Encounter choices are skill checks: you pick one party member, and success depends on that player's required stat. In the Forest's A Peculiar Camp, reasoning with the Goblin Chief is a CHA check at 5% plus 2.5% per CHA, guaranteed at 38 CHA. Forest checks use STR, DEX, INT and CHA; Dungeon checks use DEX, FTH and LCK. Some choices need a class, like a Mage-only charm.

04

Solo or group: Party Scaling

The official description says the game is built for 3 to 4 players but supports 1 to 5. Enemies scale with party size:

RuleSoloParty of 2 to 5
Enemy HPNo increase35% more per extra member; player notes list 70% for bosses
Enemy damageNo increase12.5% more per extra member
Enemy dodge and block5 points lower or two-thirds, whichever is lower (v0.5.1.2)Normal
GoldNormalSlightly more per player since v0.4.1.3

Patch 0.5.1.1 also made the A Familiar Kobold! fights easier for solo players.

Editorial note, as of Alpha v0.5.1 (October 2026): solo, every hit and skill check lands on you, so a class that can soak or heal is more forgiving. The Trello describes Warrior as a STR and CON damage soaker and Priest as a FTH and CON healer. See the tier list for current picks.

05

Dying, Exhaustion and reviving teammates

At 0 HP you are incapacitated for the rest of that fight. You revive automatically when the battle ends, no item needed, but gain one stack of Exhaustion.

Exhaustion stacksDamageOutgoing healingMax HP
10.8x0.8x0.85x
20.6x0.6x0.7x
3 (max)0.4x0.4x0.55x

Exhaustion never wears off on its own. A Short Rest restores 40% Max HP and removes one stack, though you can train for an extra stat point instead. Defeating area bosses and a few Encounters also remove it.

We found no current way to revive a fallen ally mid-fight. The Trello card for The Altar says it revives teammates for gold, but player-documented choices for it only list stat points, so do not count on it. The Force of Will Boon lets you survive one fatal attack per encounter at 5 HP.

06

Rejoining and saving

We found no save or resume feature in official or player notes. What lasts between runs is account progress: Cealts (more the further you get; a full clear pays 70, per player notes), class Prestige, achievements, Boons, races and outfits.

Rejoining arrived in v0.4.2.1 (May 2026): you return to your party at the next fight, camp or encounter vote, with EXP catch-up if you are a level or more behind. Since v0.4.6, player notes say a mid-combat disconnect leaves you at 80% Max HP with no Exhaustion (it was 70% plus a stack), and you respawn when the party's fight ends. Alpha bugs can still stall a run.

07

Host commands and game speed

CommandShort formEffect
/cmdsnoneLists all server commands
/gamespeed 0.5 to /gamespeed 2/gsSets game speed from half to double
/stashcraft true or false/scLets players craft with materials in the stash

For x2 speed, the host types /gs 2. We found no documented auto-battle or macro option.

First-run tips

Editorial advice, as of Alpha v0.5.1 (October 2026), based on the rules above:

  • Talk to the Battle Master and every lobby NPC first, as the developers suggest.
  • Spread stats across your party so someone can pass each skill check.
  • Avoid early deaths: one Exhaustion stack cuts damage by 20%. Use Short Rests to clear stacks.
  • Red Game Modifiers make runs easier but cut Cealt and XP gain and disable achievements, which most Boons need.
  • Expect to lose. The official page says "information is key", and Cealts scale with how far you get.

RoadToKing's ULTIMATE BEGINNERS GUIDE video (June 2026) tours the lobby and mechanics, though it predates v0.5.x.

FAQ

Can you revive teammates in An Average Campaign?

Not mid-fight, as far as current notes show. Fallen players revive on their own after the battle with one Exhaustion stack.

Can you save a run or rejoin?

No save feature is documented, so a run cannot be paused for later. If you disconnect, you can rejoin your party's run at the next fight, camp or encounter vote.

What is the game speed command?

The host types /gamespeed or /gs with a value from 0.5 to 2. Use /gs 2 for double speed and /cmds to list every command.

Can you play An Average Campaign solo?

Yes. Queue solo through the Aura Farmer. Solo enemies get no HP or damage bonus and dodge and block less, but every hit and skill check lands on you.
